About the department
The Department of Internationalisation and Recruitment runs academic mobility for students and staff, Erasmus+ programmes, double degrees, summer and winter schools, the international TOEFL exam and language courses. We help students reach partner universities abroad and host international students and lecturers in Shymkent.

What we work on
Academic mobility
Internal and external: how to apply, selection criteria, documents.
Erasmus+
Credit mobility and the KAZDUAL, EDUENVI, STEM and RELEAP projects.
Double degrees
11 joint master’s programmes with universities in Russia and Uzbekistan.
Summer and winter schools
Short programmes of up to 3 months and the winter-school timetable.
TOEFL exam
Official ETS Global centre: registration, threshold scores, preparation.
Foreign partners
260+ partners and memberships in international organisations.
What the sectors do
Academic exchange
- Organising participation of students and academic staff in exchange programmes: IAESTE, DAAD, MASHAV, UGRAD, Fulbright and others.
- Hosting international students and lecturers for internships and placements.
- Advice on the Bolashak Presidential Scholarship and other international grants.
- Hosting international programme coordinators for seminars and briefings.
International relations
- Contacts with diplomatic missions and national centres of foreign countries on education and science.
- Receiving foreign delegations, specialists, students, master’s and PhD students and researchers.
- Maintaining the international relations database and coordinating units on agreements and projects.
- Monitoring reports on trips abroad and the use of their results in teaching.
Outbound mobility and visas
- Official events, preparing visits and receiving official delegations.
- Visa support and migration registration for foreign citizens invited by the university.
- Advisory and paperwork support for those travelling abroad.
- Keeping the register of international agreements; organising internships and placements at partner universities.
Information
- Preparing press releases and announcements for the university website.
- Analytical review of the university’s international activity.
- Business correspondence.
